Project to Extend the Airstrip at the Payne River Camp

The project aims to make the camp’s airstrip compliant with federal transportation regulations. This involves lengthening the runway to provide aircraft with an adequate liftoff area (currently inacceptable).

Materials will be taken from the site. The works consist mainly of grading the area and any fill generated during the grading would be used in building the runway.

The proponent indicated that two or three local employees would be needed to carry out the works, which consist of backfilling, grading and possibly creating a slight detour of some small waterways.
