The Inukshuk UG deposit is located 12 km west of the Expo industrial complex.

Affected area

NNiP comprises six nickel and copper mines: Mesamax, Expo, Méquillon, Ivakkak, Allammaq (in restoration) and Puimajug (in restoration, the Expo industrial complex, which houses the ore-processing plant and workers’ camp, and the port facilities located in Deception Bay, some 110 km from the Expo site. The mining complex is located approximately 80 km west of Kangiqsujuaq and approximately 140 km southeast of Salluit

Description

The infrastructure to be developed at the Inukshuk site are:
– An access portal to the underground mine
– Secondary access roads
– A temporary ore dump
– A temporary waste rock stockpile
– A mine water catchment basin (MCB)
– A powder keg
– Three platforms
– A service station with a 50,000-L-oil tank
– An administrative building and a sanitary block
– A communications tower
– Two ventilation shafts and an emergency exit out of the underground mine

The proponent is also requesting an increase in the ore processing rate at the Expo complex concentrator from 4,500 t/day to 4,808 t/day.
