Following an accidental diesel spill at the Tasiujaq Petro garage on February 8, 2024, environmental remediation work was carried out in 2024. However, there is still residual contamination of around 15 m3 under the concrete slab at the boundary of the Petro and mechanical garages.
The chosen treatment consists of two series of soil injections using a surfactant and/or biological oxidant via injection wells excavated with core drills and excavators
