Description

In its current form, the project aims to expand the Salluit tank farm to increase its hydrocarbon storage capacity from 7,700 m3 (7,700,000 litres) to approximately 16,137 m3 (16,137,000 litres). The following works are planned:
– Expansion of the existing retention basin to contain a new Jet-A fuel tank and two diesel tanks
– Construction of a new pumping station
– Replacement of the existing electrical and control panels, as well as the electrical distribution system
– Draining and cleaning of tanks 1–5 of the existing basin for inspection and repairs, if required, and for minor modifications to install new monitoring systems

The proponent abandoned the works originally foreseen to increase the gasoline storage capacity (from 1,272 m3 to 2,384 m3) in response the village’s urgent need for diesel storage. However, since the project has not rolled out on the original time frame, the proponent has since reverted to the original project plan with the increase in gasoline storage capacity from 1,272 m3 to 2,384 m3. It should be noted that all of the requested analyses and reports were conducted within the gasoline capacity of the original project.
